The twenty first edition of Cultura Nova ended with resounding show of Les Commandos Percu. After the triple opening with the magic of Slava, the fairy stilt walkers from Compagnie des Quidam and the aerial acrobatics of Voalá project nine festival days followed featuring theater, music, film, exhibitions and performances. The festival welcomed a world premiere, six Dutch premieres, twelve co-productions, international and local cooperation ... and many children.
Cultura Nova managed to surprise, move, confront, and certainly tempted to swing. There was a diverse and international program with Spanish-Argentine air acrobats, French percussionists, an Israeli director, a famous Russian clown and his friends, Flemish actors, Dutch artists, a group of transvestites and many, many others. Great shows were interspersed with subdued gems and cheerful children's shows with steaming music performances. The sites reflected the diversity of programming: functional industrial area to the picturesque Benzenrade, from park to the stairwell of Theater Aachen.
More than 40,000 visitors, young and old, visited over 150 activities in the festival square, or one of the eighteen other locations. Together with the volunteers, artists, technicians and other crew members we look back on a successful festival Cultura Nova 2011.
Cultura Nova in 2012 takes place from 24 August t / m 2 September 2012.
