Fred Frith is a British multiinstrumentalist and composer. He is considered one of the most significant musicians active in the fi eld of contemporary experimental music today. He has performed with numerous ensembles and in countless timeless projects and is the cofounder of the British underground band Henry Cow. He received the Demetrio Stratos prize in May 2008 for his contribution
to experimental music. Musicians he is currently associated with and has worked extensively with include John Zorn, John Cage, Frank Zappa, Tom Cora, Zeena Parkings and Bob Ostertag.
William Winant is one of the best percussionists contemporary music has to offer. He has worked with musicians and ensembles such as John Cage, Steve Reich, John Zorn, Glenn Spearman and Sonic Youth. In addition to his work in contemporary classical music – notably performances of Lou Harrison’s compositions – Winant has worked in a variety of genres, including noise rock, free improvisation and jazz.
During this concert, Frith and Winant will be performing with Daan Vandewalle (piano) and Rozemarie Heggen (double bass).
