After their successful productions Aïda and Circusism, I Compani have proved to be much more than just a jazz group. Inspired by funk, classical music and tango, their sound is unique, dynamic and surprising. Last Tango in Paris is spectacle in two parts, to be listened to and watched. The first part features Tango Nuevo-based music, composed by the band leader, but with a contemporary twist. The second part hardly needs an introduction. The beautiful film score by Argentine saxophonist Gato Barbieri for Last Tango in Paris has been newly arranged as an accompaniment to scenes from the film, edited and manipulated by VJ Grootendorst.
