Fascinated by film music from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s, Lilian Hak left for Bangkok with a stack of DVDs. It was looking out over a blisteringly hot city from the 22nd floor that Old Powder New Guns was born: taken sample by sample from old classics from times past, combined with contemporary techniques and instruments. The show brings to mind a tense film noir in which Hak shines as  a femme fatale who whisks you away with atmospheric and theatrically performed songs, reminiscent of The Postman Always Rings Twice meets spaghetti western, played by an eleven-man band of experienced musicians.
