Sturm und Drang: Heavy Metal and German Romanticism

Dutch multimedia artist, exhibition creator and self-appointed  “Artist of the People” Arno Coenen sees parallels between the Sturm und Drang movement in the 18^th century and the heavy metal scene. He reveals this parallel in his group exhibition Sturm und Drang.

Sturm und Drang is part of a series of exhibitions organised over the past few years under the name Metal Heart. The series expresses the metal scene in words, images and sounds and draws a relationship between today’s Zeitgeist – another untranslatable German word.

Sturm und Drang creates a direct link with the local metal scene. During the exhibition, kuS will hand the stage to metal bands and performers from the surrounding region.
