Sunplein Landgraaf
An act of pure humanity.
Last year, the French company Dyptik presented the festive show *Mirage* on the Sunplein in Landgraaf. Their wordless dance performance culminated in a huge dance party with the audience. This special evening left us wanting more. So, especially for our 35th edition, the dancers from Dyptik are returning to Landgraaf once again. This time with their brand-new show, Amin.
Amin takes place in a circle; the audience sits around the stage, close to the dancers. The performance takes you to a desert where, at daybreak, a raft comes to rest. Surrounding those on board: the wind, the dust and the memory of a vanished ocean. Men and women gather to search for traces of their past. They dance to survive, to exist, to remember. Their bodies twist, strike out, rise up and convey the heartbeat of a world that is faltering, yet still breathes. The circle comes to life, the earth trembles, the dust rises: it is the call of a collective breath, that fragile moment where trance and celebration converge.
Amin is a poetic performance; a ritual in which music and dance merge to awaken hidden forces. The performance is inspired by Gnawa culture and is performed by a Gnawa musician and five dancers. Gnawa is a traditional Moroccan musical style, recognised by UNESCO in 2019 as intangible cultural heritage.
