Cultura Nova and PLT present the Dutch premiere of ‘Entre chiens et louves’ (Between Dogs and Wolves).
This new production by the French Cirque le Roux immerses us in a historical epic about three characters from different eras: a woman from the year 1870, who is oppressed by her husband, a married woman from the year 1960, who discovers she is attracted to women and ultimately loses her life (presumably through femicide), and a man from the year 2022, who fights against homophobia. All three rebel in order to be who they are.
A world full of hope
Cirque Le Roux is regarded as the inventor of the ‘cine-circus’. Just like in a film, where scenes unfold before your eyes against an impressive backdrop, the performers use spectacular acrobatics, humour and dance to paint a world full of hope. You’ll be on the edge of your seat during this celebration of solidarity and human resilience. In a poetic and poignant way, the characters show why we must continue to fight against prejudice and oppression.
Cirque Le Roux has been nominated for the prestigious Molière Prize for previous productions. Among other honours, the company has received the ‘Circus of the Year Award’ from Le Parisien and a Palme d’Or at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
