Two young artists, two short performances – one evening packed with new talent.

During this special double-bill, you’ll experience two performances by promising artists.

In Rotunda , Didianne Leusink explores how glass, tape and other analogue systems interact. Through live experimentation, a constant dialogue emerges between control and chance, listening and action.

*Public Attention* is an audiovisual performance featuring video footage and spatial sound recordings, captured during political demonstrations.

Rotunda

Rotunda is constructed around a metre-long tape loop featuring recordings of hand-blown glass plates. Air bubbles, distortions and irregular grooves produce a variety of sounds: from subtle crackles and vibrations to deep, sustained tones. The title refers to a circular space in architecture. This principle of circling, repetition and circularity is also reflected in the work. Both the tape loop and the glass plates are constantly moving in circles, creating ever-changing combinations of sounds.

In *Rotunda*, Didianne Leusink explores how glass, tape and other analogue systems interact. Through live experimentation, a constant dialogue emerges between control and chance, listening and action.

The audience is invited to move freely around the space. Every movement reveals new details and perspectives within the ever-changing soundscape.

Rotunda was developed by Didianne on commission from Intro in Situ and Het Concreet.

Public attention

Public Attention is an audiovisual performance featuring video recordings and spatial sound recordings made during political demonstrations.

How is sound used to exert control in public spaces? How can making sound together be a way to organise, show resistance and reclaim public space? Public Attention combines video recordings with live singing, rhythms created with the body, electronic sounds, a drone and a siren. Together, these elements form a composition that is built up layer by layer during the performance. The creators draw inspiration from both the sounds of protest movements and the sounds used to silence these protests.

In this way,Public Attention explores how collective sound can bring people together, create shared attention and connect people.
