In their explosive, unpredictable live shows, the five-piece noise-rock band Grote Geelstaart balances like a tightrope walker who threatens to lose his balance at any moment. The band combines post-punk, noise-rock and experimental rock with influences from jazz, psychedelia and electronica. Noise orchestrated in such a way that it only serves to amplify itself, to the point of bursting. They haul a mountain of kit onto every stage, including two drum kits and a collection of pedals that would make even a harsh-noise connoisseur sit up and take notice. With jarring sounds and even more jarring time signatures, they create a live show that feels as oppressive and suffocating as a fish out of water. Within this, Grote Geelstaart captivates the audience with manically danceable compositions that are fused into a single whole when performed live. Of the smart shirts and ties with which they take to every stage, nothing remains but the pretence of a bunch of respectable lads
