Winner of the award for best clown performance at the 2023 Zirkólika Awards.
‘ZLOTY’ tells an intimate story about a clown and a musician, aimed at adults
and children aged 6 and over. A whimsical and human story about freedom and the passing of time.
At the start of the last century, the clown and the musician were part of a travelling circus troupe. Until a violent storm tore the roof off their tent and the troupe was disbanded. Together, they continued their journey in their old fire engine. Until that broke down too. And this is where ‘ZLOTY’ begins.
Whilst trying to get the lorry running again, they unwittingly reveal their story: who they are and how they came to be where they are now. A clown who shows what lies behind the mask. And a musician who emotionally underscores and amplifies the events. Meanwhile, they try everything they can to get the vehicle roadworthy again so they can carry on their journey. Will they succeed?
School performances of this show will also be offered during the festival.
Small and intimate
ZLOTY is a small, live performance on the festival site, combining the arts of ‘clowning’, pantomime theatre and live music. A performance that links failure, loneliness and nostalgia with naivety and courage.
